So, it’s moving day! The day you have been planning and waiting for the past several weeks and now it’s finally arrived. Moving day is exciting, but it can also be a hectic day. There are lots of things to do and to take care of, and you may also want it to run smoothly. Make sure that you had got a good sleep last night and get ready for the final tasks to do in your soon-to-be old home.

• Pack up the remaining items like towels, bedding, etc.
• Make a detailed list (inventory sheet) about everything that will be loaded onto the moving van.
• You should take the pictures of the items, noting any dents or scratches in furniture, so that you will know if an item was damaged in transit or not. It will also prevent any misunderstanding between you and your mover.
• Before the mover arrives for loading, remove any obstacles, so that they will have a clear path from the door to the moving van.
• When your mover arrives, make sure that all the items are packed.
• Ensure that all the items that are not transporting with the mover are placed in a separate room.
• It is important for you to be present when your items are tagged by the movers to ensure that everything is marked correctly.
• Always remember, ‘The first items in the truck will be the last items off the truck’, so if you have things that you need for the first day at your new home, make sure they are loaded last.
• Check the items in the inventory sheet when they are done loading it onto the truck.
• The driver will ask you to sign a bill of lading. Keep the copy of the inventory sheet and a bill of lading in safe place.
• Give your new address and the telephone number to the driver, and also take his contact number.
